Anyone have any ideas about these book-shaped ornaments which appear to be made of milk-glass? (slightly off-white colour - even after thorough cleaning and removal of decades-worth of fluff, dust, smoke-grime and paint-spots)

Apart from the raised pattern "book end covers" ("front cover" has additional stylized (art-nouveau...ish?) botanical design within the border decoration), "spine" ridges - and the simulated pages between the covers (see images) - there appear to be no other markings.
    - stress marks visible - with slight cracking and edge/corner chips
    - dimensions (cm): approx. 11 x 4.5 x 8.5
    - top-end open/cavity
    - identical pair - i.e. not mirror images of each other
Failed to find anything remotely similar on the internet - so any suggestions appreciated! (e.g. date/age, manufacturer, design etc.).
    Thanks.

They are bookend vases. You put flowers in them. You used the as bookends.

Yours are a true pair. See how you put each a the end of a few actual books & the decorated 'covers' show? I found a clear one. Unknown who made it. My guess is that yours are VERY early - Late 1890s-1920's. Clearly, they are not too common!

I LOVE them (being a lover of books & flowers!)
