    Saw this poster last weekend at the Alameda antiques fair. Torn and battered but lovingly restored. For every fighter a woman worker. She casts an awfully short shadow. Love the simple design, her grim but determined face, the gratuitous sloganeering. Assume this is a common poster, but like it anyhow... lots of character.

      Very cool poster!

      Definitely WWI, but can't be Rosie the Riveter since she was a WWII invention.

      Your poster is from 1918 and the artist was Adolph Treidler. I've seen replicas sell for about $50 and an original for over $400, but I don't remember what condition the original was in.

      What looks sort of like a blue V for Victory symbol behind her is actually the blue triangle logo of the YWCA.

      I have the same poster. My grandmother and her best friend (the one in the poster) were one of the first female marines during WW II. Her friend was selected for most of the propaganda then. It was funny to see another.
