    This 1863 half cent has the traditional image on the front, but the backside is one I have never seen. Is anyone familiar with this coin?

      It's a Civil War token. They come in three types and probably a thousand different designs. The types are:
      Patriotic (yours is Patriotic)
      Store (like a good-for or coupon type token)
      and general advertising (like for a mill)
