Solid oak, carved designs into wood, not applied. I'm told it may be a blanket chest but cannot find info anywhere regarding where it might have been made or period it came from. It measures 35.5" wide, 15.5" deep by 22" high. In great condition, would appreciate any information.

I have since learned this is also called a coffer and it's usually from England or Scotland and can be 17th or 18th century in age. I'd really appreciate any help out there in helping me to identify more fully.

Construction and hinges would make me believe this was a 20th century piece.
