    Does anyone have any idea what this is? it was given to me a long time ago by my uncle? i don't see any type of markings on the unit at all? can't find anything online or markings on lamp?

      It looks like a "part" of a base of one of the lamps that were coming out in the early 1970's, rather unremarkable !~
