WOWWWWW!!!! What did my brother find yesterday????
This beautiful piece was almost destroyed by a back hoe, while leveling and cleaning up the debris of a very old dilapidated house!!
Remarkably, through the leveling process this was not destroyed. Then, when he was clearing the debris, with back hoe, he saw a piece of the bowl protruding up out of the pile. It glistened in the sun and he stopped dozing to see what it was.....Low and behold, he pulled it out of the dirt and debris and found the top bowl piece.....NOT BROKEN OR CHIPPED!!!! He dug into the pile a little further, to see if any more treasures buried and he found the bottom piece too, along with a few other treasures.
But, this piece was ultimately the best of what he found. He knows I do resale and he was smart enough to see it was something I should investigate for him. Although, he's thinking of making some "project" out of it. I explained that before he did anything with this piece, I needed to see what it truly was first!!!!
I find it so amazing that this piece wasn't damaged and lost forever! For some reason this bowl was not destroyed.....It makes me think there is a 'very good reason' this was not damaged!!!!! Truly a found treasure in Texas!!! It's beautiful!!!!!
However, I would appreciate any help in identifying this piece....Is it possibly ' American Brilliant Cut Glass'? I am currently trying to research this item and I think I saw a glint view of this piece in a video clip, on display at the Dixon Gallery.
I don't see any hallmarks or I.D. on the pieces. So, I will continue to research the internet and try to find another one, to compare to, etc..... I just don't know the difference of glass manufacturers. Are Baccarat and other valuable pieces all marked with a hallmark?? Or are there rare, collectible pieces out there without marks?
Any help in identifying this lovely piece would be greatly appreciated!
