This bike was used in a six day bike race in Cleveland, OH on a wooden track in 1949 with an Italian rider. It has a 1949 license plate on it but I cant figure out exactly what it is or what it is worth. It has one wooden rim. The front emblem says Schwinn Superior. Any help???
I want to say that it is an old bsa bcause of the foot crank but if it has a schwinn head badge I dont know what it is!
I KNOW! I think it was a custom bike for racing because of the BSA crank.
It has the straight frame of schwinn though!???
It is what it says it is... a Schwinn Superior from the 1930s. The shoulders on the fork, which is probably original are typical of the model from the period, while the "welded" lugless frame is also typical, a building process that gave i\us the venerable Continental. The BSA ring is irrelevant. BSA were the Campy of the day and their parts were after market for many fixed hear bikes. The pedals are probably Torrington Star, in bad shape. It is worth something to a Schwinn collector, but not to most of us.
