I am very interested the topic of the Modern Spiritualism movement which took place in the mid- 1800's. In a house in Hydesville, NY, two sisters Kate and Maggie Fox awakened in the middle of the night to mysterious rappings. The girls woke their parents, who sent to alarm to the neighbors, and thus began the Modern Spiritualism movement. The rappings were said to have been of a peddle who had been murdered there, and later, his remains found buried in the basement.

Kate and Maggie Fox, along with older sister Leah fox Underhill because celebrated mediums in their time. In their later years, both Kate and Maggie died poor, destitute, and alcoholics.

This particular book is about sessions that medium Kate Fox gave in automatic writing. Not only did Kate write in break neck speed, but she also wrote backwards and in languages she did not know.

What makes this book special, in my opinion, is the sticker inside from Dale News, Inc, Lily dale, NY.

Lily Dale is a community of spiritualists and psychic mediums. It was also where they moved Kate and Maggie's house from Hydesville to it's final resting place in Lily Dale until it burned to the ground.

this book was published in 1933
