This stove has been in our family for years and when my dad passed away and mom sold their home I just had to have it....I just love the way it looked and was thinking it would be nice to use on our patio when we have cooler weather to supply a little heat.
Wanting to know what was the original purpose for this type of stove? Approximate value (don't want to sell - just curious as my husband thinks it's a piece of junk taking up space).
It has raised lettering on the front "Rex all" and "No. 8". It is pretty heavey so believe it is cast iron.

drip: Your stove is made of cast iron . Because it has the top plates I would say it could have been used for cooking . But it could also have been used to heat water for doing the laundry . I have restored a few wood stoves over the years . You can clean this up and give it a nice coat of heat resistant paint and it will look much better . Maybe your husband would like it better all cleaned up . Tell him it is not a piece of junk . I see these sell at Flea Markets all of the time . Usually well over $100.00 .

No your stove is not junk. Check out the one I have listed here. To see what it could look like all cleaned up. Love the cast iron stoves.
