I found this in the bar where I live my house is attached, the bar is over 100 years old and has been many things over its life a post office, gas station, general store, dinner and a bar today it is my sewing room. This is one of the things found here any ideas as to what it is? It is broken on one side you can pull the metal handel on the wooden handel.

yep for 'gaffing'/spearing fish, seen these before, some times used in conjunction with a wooden carved lure to get pike or other fish into range then spear them.

My hunch was correct then,I tried doing a Google search but didn't know what to type in other than spear.

On this site is an image of a gaff used for catching Salmon, that is what it reminded me of.
