I am not sure if this is a patent model, but it is the only thing I can think of. Unlike any antique lock I have ever seen this one opens up to reveal the inner workings. All I know is that it was patented by Thomas K Webster of Lawrence MA (#23,967) in 1859. I have seen patent models stamped with patent information as this is but I am unsure if this is a patent model. Any help is appreciated.
