Art Deco Bakelite Cake Server?

Found this beautiful piece, and it looks like it is an Art Deco period wedding cake server? I am not sure - there are no markings by a maker, however the handle looks like and feels like bakelite and there is an etched design that resembles typical Art Deco period designs, and may be a wedding cake design? The etched design also reveals a gold metal underneath the chrome/silver plated metal.
