I found this listed as a "metal cabinet" on Craigslist in Los Angeles a couple of years ago and I fell in love. Once I brought it home, I noticed a signature had been engraved on the outside of the inner door. It said J G Requile. I did some research on it and found that he was an ironworker in Belgium and did work on staircases, gardens and cemetery gates. I still haven't found out what it's worth but it's priceless to me. Anyone have any experience with this item? I heard maybe it was used in front of a furnace or some other heating fixture.

      Dear Blackcrow,
I know you posted this awhile ago, but I have the exact same cabinet by Réquilé!!! Exact in every way! It is from 1870 and I believe it may be worth thousands of dollars. I got mine about 10 years ago or so (around 2003). I had been using it as a cabinet, but I recently had the sheet metal on the back removed so that I could use it as a fireplace front. (Hopefully that didn't destroy its value.) It just wasn't as useful as a cabinet. I got mine in an antique store in Los Angeles. Where did you get yours?
