I just got this today, it is a miniature basket made by the Makah Tribe. It is 2 and 1/4 inches in diameter, and 1 and 1/8 inches tall. This is made of Cattail leaves and or Sea grass, and the bottom middle made of Cedar strips. There is no damage at all, the weave is perfect and so tiny! The last picture has a tube of lip balm next to the basket, so you can get an idea of how small this basket is. It has red and black coloring in the design. When I saw it I had to have it, I had never seen one of these so small with such perfect and tiny weaving. It looks like it was made yesterday but was probably made around 1900 to 1910. The collector I got it from ( Ron Bucher, or "Uncle Ron") said it was the nicest Makah basket he had ever owned.
