This antique table with droppable sides has been in our family for many years. My dad purchased it when I was a little girl (about 45 years ago). I have looked all over the web to find something similar to it, but cannot. I would love to learn more of its history. The legs to hold up the extended sides swing from the right to the left. The legs are not very ornate (as you can see in the picture. The table measures 29 1/2" tall by 53" long when fully open and 40" across. The table has been used and has never been sanded or refinished (as you can probably tell). If you have any information that would enlighten us as to the type/name of this table, possible age and possible maker (if it's not handmade), I would love to know this.

Research using the term Drop Leaf Table or Gate Leg Table. If it is marked it would be underneath the table top. If it has a drawer it may be marked inside the drawer. One of ours is marked inside a drawer and the other unmarked. Pretty common tables. Drawers and ornate legs or carvings make them worth a bit more.

This one is not very ornate, and it has no drawer. I have not noticed any markings on it, but I did not pull out the leaf that is currently folded against a wall. I did some research on drop leaf table and gate leg table, but none of the samples I saw were as plain as mine. Thanks for the information. I'll keep looking.
