1940's sheet metal trunk - suitcase.

I found this in an estate clean out last week. I wonder if the handle is bakelite. . . no maker stamp.

It is difficult to tell whether or not it is bakelite from a picture. Plastics is various forms were used in the 40's but did not become mainstream until the 50's when a more robust type of plastic was invented. It seems to have the bakelite sheen and texture to it and would fit into the dating of the piece.
