The big elephant (20 cm high) was one of many beautiful decorative animal figurines (plastieken) he designed in Gouda.
The small one is from 1951. Factory ''Hille Beschuit''(rusk) celebrated their 50th anniversary that year. They have an elephant in their logo and they chose this design for their anniversary-present.
