My favorite brass candle holder I found in thrift shop

Having an eye for beauty and an appreciation for fine craftsmanship, it's was impossible for me to pass this candle holder up for $2.
What attracted most was hints of primitive construction, and it surprising weight. The seams between the pieces appear to have been soldered with lead, but I may be wrong. I set it on my desk, and it's been there for the past year, so regardless I got my money's worth.
