looks like a foot stool but not a butt chair. A child should not sit on it. Made in Denmark, buttons under lid unlock sliding lid, inside a wood tray with dividers, made in Denmark on bottom of tray and box. Many different colors of wood I don't think the black is original so thinking of chalk painting and decoupage...what say you? Before I go messing up a master piece or something. It is ugly with the black.
