Found this lamp and I can not find anything out about it. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what it is called? Or where I can find out some info on it?

I believe it's called a student lamp, just Google student lamp.

Thanks Michael. I will try that and see if I can find out the maker and year.

i agree with officialfuel -- they still make this design -- your lamp appears to be an antique -- perhaps late 1800s based on the wiring and shade i see in the pic

      Thanks Epson233,

I done a search based on what Fuel said an came up with lots of designs, but non exact. I wish it had a name on it somewhere. The only name I have came across was on the switch to turn on/off an it said "levitch". I never found anything comparable.
The cord appears to be wrapped in a cloth substance, shade appears to be a painted tin. Lamp itself appears brass. I would like to find name of maker to also find the value, if any.
Thanks again for everyone's reply. They have been very helpful.

have one very similar to it i bought at auction, gave our son the house it's in ,so guess i'm going to have to ask for my lamp and a few other gems i've collected over the years back..lol..never looked for a name on it,just enjoyed it for the beauty of it.may do that now and see if i have the same name on it that you have.
