What Is It?

This was in a box that I purchased at an auction. Does anyone know what it was used for and its approximate age? It is in good condition. Porcelain. None of the flowers are broken or chipped. It is approximately 10" tall with lid. The only marking on it is a small blue and beige rectangular sticker that reads "Japan". The reticulated lattice work is raised and is NOT open into the bowl. Three footed. Inside is glazed also. Thank you!!!
