This is Comet in the Stars by L. E. Smith and the color looks to be amethyst carnival. This is a reproduction of a 1913 EAPG pattern by U. S. Glass by the same name. Fenton also made a small compote in this pattern.

Ah ok, so it's a knock off ? Just been given a heap by my grandfather who passed and I have no clue on carnival glass

I've search the L.E smith amethyst and can't find this exact piece anywhere, I've found all other colours bar this

yes a reproduction/knock-off. Smith still makes glass today and made this bowl in various colors.

Tall Cakes, as you know I m trying to learn about Carnival glass too. When you say repro...1980s repro or earlier?

I really don't know when Smith may have produced this particular color. They still offer this same pattern at their webstore today but now call it Heritage. This may even be the plum lustre color that is listed; I don't see examples of all available colors.
