Vintage crab or fish net?

My husband was given these two old mesh traps for crabs or fish? We are not sure. But they are old. The larger one has wood rings and the other rusted metal rings. Both have what we think are bait sacks made of mesh. Really cool. I'd like info on these as in era and what they were used for ect. Thanks.
