Beautiful covered jar, does anyone know if this is a ginger jar, or something else? , and also if this is a modern or earlier piece , I might have photographed the mark upside down , I can't tell which is the right way .... please comment

Why don't you by some books and learn for yourself? You're going to go broke buying all this fake Chinese stuff Songwriter, you should really buy some good books and learn what to look for.
