This is a great two dollar find!! It is hand carved. The chain goes from the pouring end to the top where it connects to the dogs collar. It is cracked however. There are four deer carved on in and in the background there is a tree with a small woodpecker on it. Amazing detail! Any idea on what year it may have been made?

WOW!! I remember seeing these at many Schützenfest (rifle competitions) at a Rod & Gun Club in Germany when I was a kid 30 years ago. I bet that Pfiffen (pipe in German) is over 100 years old too! You're an owner of something that holds a VERY HIGH premium on the collector's market. Thank you for sharing!! =)

Thanks for the information! I bought it from a woman who bought things in Europe and then resold them here in the United States

You got a great piece, they don't make them like that anymore. Correction on my spelling Pfeiffen, alot of hunter's hence the deer scene puffed on these. They had a long fancy carved stem too. Keep your eye open for one! Happy Treasure Hunting! =)
