What is this?

I inherited this table from my mother some 40 years ago. No manufacture's marks of any type. It may have been made for the trade by a local company for resale by various stores. It shows band saw marks on the backside of the legs. The underside adornments are all slightly different indicating an individual craftsman's work. I recently refinished the top after removing some warpage. The top is attached by screws to a rectangular plate which is dowelled to the leg assembly. The top appears to be made of Walnut as do two reinforcing strips on the bottom side of the top. I added two more Fir strips on my own to insure no future warpage in this dry climate.
