I inherited this doll quite a few years ago. I know very little about it. I am not interested in selling it, but would like to know more about it, as it was my great-great grandmothers doll. I believe my great-great grandmother was born in 1899, which gives some idea as to how old the doll is. The stamp on the back of the head is not fully readable. I can read "wimpern" which I've found means eyelashes in German. Because of which, I suspect it is a German doll. She is about 22" tall, has what I think is bisque hands and face. Any information anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Wimpern Gesetzl Geschutzt" (translation: eyelashes patent pending), German Ernst Heubach bisque Produced these dolls . She should have a number embossed also as Ernst Heubach also sold doll heads made by other companies so that mold number is important . Look under hair and also pull up a bit on neck it maybe below what you see . Nice Bisque Doll I can not see her body is it leather ? Or solid ? The hands should not be bisque if on jointed composition body . Often hands were replaced . I would need to see her nude to talk about body . She dates late 1900's -20's

She is called a "Dolly Face " German Bisque vs a character face .

I need to add also her wig is not original to her . It was replaced so I wonder if body is . As I look at photo close she is called a shoulder head vs socket head so should be on a kid leather body .

The body is jointed, leather. Under garments look original and are very delicate, but upon unbuttoning one of her petticoats, I can see that it looks as if she has a corset on. Her dress is sewn on, so not easily removed. Her wig is glued on. How high up would the mold number be? I hate to try to pull the wig off. Should I?

Pulled the wig up quite a ways and no markings. Pulled her dress down a little and can see some of a stamp, looks like maybe cerwally (probably not correct, just a guess). Can't even see half of the word because it has some type of what may be very thin scalloped leather glued over it, which would rip if I try to pull it down any farther. It looks like she is bisque up until her mid back where the corset begins. Does any of that help identify her better?

The wig would easily lift up if you use a damp finger and dab at bottom of glue on wig but not necessary . She would still be a Ernst Heubach doll .Yes her under clothes look original but dress is all wrong for her era . I would change it to a antique dress and give her a old mohair wig .

We pull down leather to look but do not do it unless you have experience . Maybe if you took a photo I might make it out .
