I found this painting at a thrift store a while ago in Denver. I think it is an oil painting. The frame is a great gold gilt with corn detail. The trees and what I can make out of the foliage has almost a tropical look to it. In the distance are two deer's and in the foreground is a person in a boat with what looks a pack and a helmet. There is a signature on the lower right hand corner but very difficult to see/picture. Any information would be most appreciated. Thanks much.

When it is daylight, take it in the natural light(not direct sunlight) and take pictures with no flash. or near a window. Try to get the signature. It looks like Hudson River Scholl to me.,

Wow - the frame alone is worth a pretty penny. 19th century.

Excellent advice and I will do so. I really like the painting it does have a couple of small tears in the canvas. The frame is great and I love it. Thanks so much for your input and I will have to do more research on it. Happy New Year to you.
