This vase belonged to my grandmother (Born 12-15-1895 Yugoslavia / died 11-5-1974 Missouri. She & my grandfather traveled back to Serbia/Yugoslavia several times after moving to St. Louis. My mother, always loved the vase, and she kept and cherished it after my grandmother died. I'm 67 years old now and remember seeing in my grandma's china cabinet and then my Mom's china cabinet when I was a child. When my Mom passed in 2000, as the first born, I got first choice of the family heirlooms. I loved this vase as well, so now it is in my china cabinet.
It is a more muted green than the pictures show (which do not do it justice) and some what translucent.
The flowers and leaves look to be hand painted and are convex off the surface of the glass. While they are concave on the interior of the vase. The dark decorative portions at the top and bottom look to be layered on in muted blacks and gold and raised off the surface, almost like the old gesso picture frames. I can't see any markings on the vase, it is about 9" tall, 9" at the widest part and 5" across the opening at the top.
That is all I know about its history, I would dearly love to know anything about my cherished vase. Sadly, I wasn't wise enough when I was younger to ask about this vase.
At this time my plan is to use it as my burial urn, unless the value is more than sentimental, in which case I would leave it to my son.
Thanks for any information that may be shared.
Also, I have included a poem I wrote about treasures of the heart, for your enjoyment. (see below)

    Once Priceless

Life’s treasures…for a brief instant in time thought to be irreplaceable
Gifts from the heart…commemorating milestones in our existence

Some brilliant and costly…others mere trinkets…all bestowed with love
To gaze upon them…conjures up a kaleidoscope of images past

A deluge…of nostalgia is brought forth by these mementos
The prospect of their loss…brings a tear to the eye and a cry from the soul

Guarded and cherished…these objects…like windows into our memories
Celebrating recollections…that are precious to the heart and mind

Handed from generation to generation…each passing year the value wanes
Discarded or destroyed…with its secrets and true worth lost forever

    A small time capsule…of a bygone era…Once Priceless…
Sits on a shelf…tucked away in the corner of a little dusty shop

Until the day…it catches the eye of a passing admirer
No way…to realize the lives and events so closely linked

An acquisition of whimsy…the old story fades…and a new one begins
Reborn as another’s possession…no concept of its emotional origin

This Once Priceless heirloom…adored because of the tale it told
    Now a symbol of another’s memories…
    its fate unknown…
    the legacy vanishes…
