I studied oil painting under this German artist back in 1959, in Ohio. We moved away to another state. Last year, I saw this painting on Ebay by Mr. Kuhn (deceased 1977), and my daughter surprised me by buying it and sending it to me. He was an amazing artist, a task master, and I learned much from him before going back to get my degree in art.
You just never know what you will find on Ebay, and Collectors weekly.!!!

I've been trying to track down information on this artist off and on for 10-15 years. All I had to go on was "W. Kühn" and kept coming up with "Walt". I guess I finally have the right one, based on the appearance of the signature.

I grew up in the Cleveland area and have two paintings by Mr. Kuhn, dated 1954, that hung in my parents' home as long as I can remember. I only heard the story once, but I believe friends of my parents asked them to loan/give some money to this fellow, and in return he painted these two pictures for them.

I've found out very little about the artist and, indeed, only confirmed his identity today.

stomasausk, glad to help! I do recall that Mr Kuhn was an engineer and worked in that capacity somewhere in the area of Cleveland. Also, He was much sought and won awards in many exhibits in the area. He also did a fantastic "moonscape" painting that was unbelievable and I understand that it hung at some point in the White House, etc.. I hope this helps.
