Moonspinne…
(1 item)
This gold men's Rolco watch belonged to my grandfather, who died in 1942. I have managed to date it to around late 1920's/early 1930's but please correct me if I'm wrong!
I found it tucked away in the back of a bureau drawer when my grandmother died, and I have yet to find anything resembling this anywhere on the internet, although I have tried for quite some time now. I live in Australia now, having emigrated from the UK 13 years ago, so it's been difficult to find anyone out here who could help me with it.
It is in very good condition, and I couldn't believe it when I wound it up and it starting ticking straight away. I believe he would have worn it as a 'dress' watch so it would not have had the wear and tear of everyday usage.
I would be interested if anyone had any further information about this watch as it is quite unusual
The solid wristband is different to anything I've seen yet
Just a beautiful watch and so good that it's working well too!

That is a nice watch. Thanks for posting it! I have a couple of women's watches I should post as well to learn something from them. You have inspired me! Thanks!
Thanks for that - I'm fascinated to know about these old watches that I have inherited so pleased to read that you are going to do the same! :-)
Hi Moonspinner, You should take it to a watchmaker or a jeweler who uses a watchmaker and have a C.O.A. Clean oil and adjust.
Bob
Thanks brunorob - might be difficult to find the right place around here but will ask. Would be great to get it cleaned and oiled - will definitely wait until I know the right place to go, though as can't risk having it done by someone who doesn't know what they're about! :-)
Hi AR8Jason
Would love to take it to Fremantle or Perth but unfortunately I live in Adelaide so would be a bit of a long, long trip!!!
Glad you enjoyed a warm Aussie welcome - I'm sure it's much the same these days! I've been to Fremantle and Perth and agree they're great places to be - just a long way to pop over to get a watch looked at!!
Thanks for admiring the watch - will work on getting it cleaned up and oiled and restored to it's original glory! :-)
