This is a trunk that has been passed down through my family in central Mississippi. I am not sure who the original owner was, so I do not know how old the trunk is or who the maker is.

It is about 4.5' long and 2' wide. As you can see, it has a rounded top with three slats running longitudinally across it. There are two slate running horizontally across the front.

Inside, there is an image of a beautiful lady in a powdered wig.

There is a wooden tray. The inside of the tray is just raw, sanded wood, I believe. There are two holes on either side to help you pick it up to get to the most inside layer of the trunk. The tray's edges do have a pattern printed on it that is the same as the lid (surrounding the lady). It looks to be a snowflake-type pattern with a patriotic-type border. I've attached a picture of that.

On the outside there are two leather handles, one on each side. No wheels.

There doesn't seem to be any marking that indicates a date, maker, or city of origin. There is a family story of an old Civil War Veteran in our family lugging around his trunk from place to place, and I suppose this could be it.

Your trunk is an early 1900's dome top. The lovely lady lithograph was a common one -- I have had her grace two of my trunks. This was a common style of trunk made by many makers so with no label hard to say what company made it. Great to have a piece of family history!
