    I also found these 2 yarn dolls in a discard box from an estate sale. They are 3 inches tall and obviously made to resemble the Nenette and Rintintin dolls the French used for good luck in WWI. (The paper with description was folded up in their glass case with them.) Anyone know what era these guys might be from? Recent repros or older? Thanks for looking!

      Precious ! they look to be 1940's era to me . The yarn has age and the way the faces are painted show age to them . love love

      Thanks, Manikin! I love them too. I couldn't believe someone would just throw them away. They sure are fancier and more detailed than any yarn doll I ever made. Of course I haven't made one since I was 8 and my skills weren't very sophisticated, but still...

      They almost look as though the came as a patterns and faces were imposed on the material for you . And yes that they are all knitted made them harder to make :-)
