Western Electric '500 Series' 5-line 'key system' office phone, looks like an older one with the black metal dial and round pushbuttons, likely late 1940's-early 50's. (its probably got date stamps inside, if not visible on its bottom) There would have been a rectangular bezel around the row of buttons with labels to indicate 'line 1 - 5' and 'HOLD' for the 6 buttons, which would illuminate when ringing or in use. Red sticker under the handset (w/more modern phone #'s than the one on the dial) suggests it last served in some sort of "public service" office somewhere. Hope this helps -- nice phone!! :-)
