Only marking I can find is on the butt "G KENEDY" with a backward "N". Found near Buffalo NY. Looks to to be for a right handed man.

I have one also. I treasure it! They were used for hewing logs.
You will find many on eBay.
You could use Ancestry.com to research census records, deaths, marriages, deeds, etc, for the area in which you found it - maybe you could find that name.
I notice your broad ax has no patina and it's beside a belt sander which made me cringe! I hope the patina wasn't deliberately removed.

If I took a sander to this bad boy it would ruin all character. I used baking soda and a washcloth to get all the rust off I could. That's a great idea using ancestry.... Im wondering if the backwards "N" has significance. I'll let you know if I find anything else out if youd like?

I think the backwards N may have been an innocent mistake by the person who put the name there.
Please do post more info if you find out more.
