Some Original Artwork by Janet & Anne Grahame Johnstone came up for sale on ebay last week, and I was able to by one! I would have liked them all, but too pricey, so I chose this one of a woodcutter, admiring the Moon. I can't find this picture in any of my J&A books, though I feel I should know what this is. It's not signed, but I am sure it is by them, as their work is so distinctive.
These two are my most favourite illustrators I think- I have 2 of their fairy tale books and would collect more of their pieces if I had the money for it! This is stunning- with it's vibrant colours and detail but as to what story it depicts I can't say either.
