20 years ago I lent a guy $25 and he gave me a bunch of baseball and football cards, 2 empty metal collector tin boxes and an unopened pack of Victory baseball cards. I have never seen the guy since so I just got these down off the closet shelf. There are over 1100 cards that date from late 1980's to 1990's. Sports cards don't interest me at all, just not my thing. Question is two things. #1 Are cards this age collectable and #2 Did I get burned lending him $25? Almost 800 are baseball and the remainder are football cards.

No matter good or bad I will appreciate feedback. I thought I would get my money back but that didn't happen. Live and learn.

You may have some good ones, the industry has changed, they actually bed pieces of relics now, such as jersey swatches, sand from pitchers mounds, low runs numbered, and what you have are referred to as raw cards...A desirable player would need to be sent to a company where they grade them, they examine every print mark, corners surface, and other aspects of the card...McGuire, and others who have been caught on steroids kinda killed the value...Look for well known players, and then just go on ebay and see if you see the same. Grading and a good grade will make the card hold its value.

Thanks mrcolorz for the info. Since this post I have given most of the cards to my youngest son and grandson as they are collectors also. A salesman who came to my house happened to see the cards and wanted just the rookie cards. Because he had such an interest I said no to his offers. I don't need the money and the cards need to stay in the family and age slowly.
