    This wooden item was found in my grandmother's sewing machine drawer. Can anyone tell me what it is and how it is used?UPDATED: Correctly identified as a glove stretcher. What a treasure! Thank you so much.

      My great Aunt had these. She was a seamstress. I believe, but not sure that it is called a fitting clip. If your pants or dress needed to be shortened they would be folded up to the right height and this clip would hold it for the proper repair to be made.

      A glove stretcher.

      In Hungary, seamstresses use the needle to temporarily fasten the hem..This is called a glove opener because it extends the glove finger before use to make it easier to pull on.
