Picked up this Genuine Plumb Axe a couple weeks ago. This one had a nice sharp Boy Scouts of America Logo along with the Genuine Plumb logo. These tend to be highly worn and barely readable. Plus it has "Official Scout Axe" on the handle.
Now this would be pretty high up as far as Boy Scout5 accessories went. It would look pretty impressive on the belt. Plus it is high up on the list of Boy Scout weaponry. But by looking at it the number one use was as a hammer. The back end of the blade shows the most wear. Axes now are probably kept in a safe and only used under adult supervision.
I got a WWII Army sheath for it. These are a bit more durable than the official scout ones. Boy Scouts were encouraged to go to Army surplus stores in the past as accessories could be picked up cheaply. By the 1960s Official Boy Scout items were the thing. My guestimate is 1950s to 1970 for this axe.

Please help me in my ignorance. Is the cutout for pulling out tent pegs?

Nice, I would love to find one like it. I did just buy a True Temper Kelly works axe with the claws for pulling nails. Haven't researched it much but always love learning about everything I find.

I am way behind on this one.

      Thank you very much clockerman.

Thank you very much racer4four. It is for nails but could be used on tent pegs.

Thank you very much crewnail. I like doing that too.
