Like I said I have no idea what this item is and everyone that knows a little something has no idea. If you have any answers, I would love to hear them. I am assuming its used for measuring or surveying purposes. Any information would be greatly appreciated. It remains a mystery.

It appears to be a "check row" stake. There was a time when corn was planted in squares, that is to say rows and hills were the same distance apart. Say the rows were 36" apart then the hills were then 36" apart , so the corn could be cultivated in two directions when young for weed control. That was before round-up and agent orange. These stakes were used used with a matched planter and a trip wire to determine where to drop seed. Enjoy your find, there several different styles of them from different manufacturers available
