    Chow Dog License Plates

At a recent estate sale, I picked up these three Chow dog themed plates. Unfortunately another collector I know got the matching plates. These three were screwed to the wall above a window. The owner was a big Chow dog fan and had some regular and show dogs I believe.

The blue New Jersey "Garden State" plate was issued between 1979 and 1991. There was recent interest in bringing back the look, although I'm not sure if that happened?

The Washington state plates were used beginnings in 1998. The plate is still used, but the number/letter format has changed some.

The one chrome frame had some neat little spinner screw covers. Reminds me of an old knock off car wheel nut.

    WHAT CHOW WE SAY?
"The Chow Chow is a spitz-type of dog breed originally from northern China. The Chow Chow is a sturdily built dog, square in profile, with a broad skull and small, triangular, erect ears with rounded tips."

    ITS CHOW WEIRD!
"They have blue-black tongues that look almost lizard-like. The Shar-Pei also has this tongue coloration."

    CHOW LONG?
"It’s believed that the chow chow breed has been around for roughly 2,000 to 3,000 years."

    NOT CHOW IN CHINESE
"Its Chinese name is actually “songshi quan,” but the term “chow chow” came from merchants describing anything coming from the East in the 18th century."

Thank you for the comments. The picture of the Chow dogs is a generic picture I got online to show what they look like. I thought these were very unique plates for my collection.
