This is my 1/16 scale hay press.
I power it with my New Holland scale model gas engine belted to the flat belt drive pully of the press.
It makes bales that are 2" X 3" and can be any length as you desire.
I baled these mini-bales using lawn clippings, by using a farm hay bale as the source of baling material, you get a better mini-bale.
This style of hay press was sometimes called a horse head hay press by the looks of the stuffing arm that pushes the hay into the ram.
it separates the bale length by wooden blocks, then the wire is inserted between the blocks to size the bale length.
these hay presses were used at the hay barn to bale the hay for storage. If the hay is harvested in the windrows of the field, then the term baler was used because of the new gathering style and the invention of the automatic knotter.

it really is Scott, and it really is a show - stopper wherever I display it. they want a bale to take home, even to the point of knocking on our camper door while we are having lunch to tell me to make them a bale or two.
They lose the point that I am demonstrating and explaining how these early hay presses made bales in the 20's and 30's
