      Steptoe1, Interesting. :-)

Insofar as I can tell, Mexico never issued any coins like that, e.g.:

      https://en.numista.com/catalogue/index.php?p=1&ru=4028&ct=coin&e=mexique

That is to say, no coins with an image of Maximiliano Emperador on the obverse, and an eagle on the reverse.

It's probably a fantasy round similar to the gold Maximiliano rounds, e.g.:

      https://www.apmex.com/product/26947/1865-b-mexico-mini-gold-1-50-oz-maximiliano-grove-154

      http://worldwide-numismatics.com/page0.htm

There is a wedding tradition in Mexico involving coins/rounds:

      Steptoe1, You're welcome. :-)

      More about the tokens:

      *snip*

Mexican gold tokens began being produced in 1949 and continues to this day. They range from 8k to 22k gold, and a few varieties were also struck in silver.

      *snip*

      https://boards.ngccoin.com/topic/97952-1865-mexico-gold-coin-maximiliano-emperador-reference-site/

I see quite a few of the silver variety out there on eBay, etc. and more than a few mounted in rings.
