These are my Grandmothers pictures of the 37 flood in Paducah. She, my grandfather and my Uncle whom was 2 years old was living in one of the apartment buildings downtown and they had to climb out of a window into a boat in order to get to dry ground. My grandmother was a few months expecting my mother at the time. This was a very trying time for them. Now the floodwall is there and many people sacraficed their homes at The Land Between The Lakes in order to keep this from happening again. Kentucky Dam was born. A whole town was flooded purposefully in order to keep waters from flooding anymore. When the water is low a person can actually hike through land between the lakes and see where the town that was flooded purposefully once stood. A small bit of history. I do own some of the furniture that was water damaged in that flood and I use it in my home. I'm pleased to own this piece of history. I hope you can see the pics this is only a few of them and it was hard to take pictures of these to share with you. Thankyou, Nina

Thanks for sharing these wonderful pictures and the story behind them. Have you considered getting digital scans? There is so much in these pictures I would love to examine more closely.

Thanks for sharing the photo's, I was glad to see, with a Google maps street view that the bank clock shown in a couple of the photo's survived the flood and is still mounted on the corner of 4th and Broadway.
      regards
