Anyone know what this is? There is writing on it that says it is a gem crane. what year is it? what is it used for? Thanks,

Its hard to tell by the photo but the 1/4 could refer to size of the pipe union fitting on the end of the device. Crane still mfg. steam control products, I would say that it is a steam flow control/ limiter.
