I discovered this mid century Phone bench at a Thrift shop. I Purchased it intending to sell it after I made it pretty. Often that is not what happens.
I chose a contemporary fabric in great neutral colors of black, cream & taupe because I liked it very much and figured it would be a good choice for resale. After I re-upholstered the cushion, I absolutely loved the fabric and deep cherry wood tone together. I refinished the wood with Fromby's to preserve the patina and hand rubbed with Tung oil to a soft lustrous sheen.
When all was said and done my husband expressed his interest in keeping this piece, and it didn't take any convincing for me to agree. Besides Shipping furniture was not something I had done yet and the logistics and cost were detrimental.
I think we made the best decision!
