vintagelover
(1 item)
I got this at an auction as part of a box lot. I did some research and found that it meets the qualifications to possibly be a first printing but I'm not certain.
I love books and I think that Dr. Seuss (Theodore Geisel) wrote some of the best children's books ever.

It looks like you do! Lucky! Condition means EVERYTHING to book collectors, but the dust jacket for this book is *really* tough to find in almost any kind of shape at all. Looks like you have a winner! Now, confession: How much did you pay for the box, and did you know it was in there?
jsw14 is waiting to know how much too!
:-) I don't recall the exact amount but I never pay much for any box lot. No I did not know it was in there. Really I didn't! It was buried in the bottom. Someone else may have known what it was and put it in the bottom (if you go to auctions much, you'll know what I mean) but if they knew, they didn't bid. Lucky find for sure!
Very good pick vintagelover!! I just asked the wife if she had one somewhere & she said YES!
WoooooHooooo!!
Woo hoo for you too! I hope yours is a first edition with a mint DJ!
Congrats on the find. I have a first edition How the Grinch Stole Christmas, no dust jacket, but it is in really good shape. No pencil marks or anything. It has a small tear at the base of the binding, but that's about it. No bend in pages and just overall really good condition. I will post it soon.
i would say as to value and it is only a guess but the cat in the hat might be worth between $500-1500 in an open auction maybe more i have a old hemingway book i thought was worth ziltch and was given a price of between $750-$2800 and could bring as much as 5k to a mainline collector
Incredible!! I'm a Dr. Seuss FANATIC.
hi i have this exact book. i think in better (excellent) condition - no dj...what is it worth today?
I don't THINK its a first edition....
It should have a price on the Dj.
Random House, Inc., would mark first editions with a printing line (number line) concluding with a 2 (as in 98765432) and the words "First Edition."
