Okay, this is one of my mysteries. I have searched and searched to find out about this fish. Recently I looked at one of my old books, Fun Jewelry by Nancy Schiffer (1991 edition) and found something very similar, but there is no information about it. All it says is "Swimming Carp, Chinese enameled fish of linked segments mounted as a pendant, Private collection." I would love to learn more.

I have seen these many times, in antique stores, flea markets & at our local China Buffet take out place. Some look old some look new, some are new & made to look old etc. I think they are cool and I really love the colors on yours. Also I want to say yours seems to be a much nicer quality then the new ones I see.
Thank you for comments. I have seen some really great new fish. Most of them are really pretty. I don't know what they are used for but great enameling and colors.
I'v one myself in brilliant blue enamelled and bought in the past myself in China in a so-called cloisonne factory.
