This is a special set. Made of 14 k (tested with 585 = European label for 14 K) white gold with rubies.
The brooch can be devided in two parts. The pin/clasp is at the back of the biggest part. Under the brooch is a mechanism by which the smallest particle can be hung at the bottom as a drop.
This ornament is therefore to contribute as a set consisting of brooch and pendant but also to contribute as large pendant or brooch. There is so much you can do with it. I don't know exactly from which period this jewel is but I think from the 1950s/60 because of the clasp. You think that my assumption is correct?
