Marre
(3 items)
I found this compact in a stall in London, UK - it doesn't seem to have any markings on it. The vendor said it was Austrian or German.
Its dark brown (enamel?) and brass. The first picture shows a lipstick at the left, a music box with turn key, a compact which flips open to show mirrow, buff, linen sifter. Second pic shows cosmetic compact in detail. Turn the item over and there is a latch that opens a cigarette area for up to 5 cigarettes and underneath that, a place for business/social cards.
The music box works but I don't know the name of the piece. There isn't any lipstick in the holder. There are minor scratches to the enamel but no dings. The brass shows small pit-like marks and some scratches. The brass on the lipstick tube seems to be the worse for wear. I haven't attempted to clean it.
Does anyone know the maker? Age? Should I try to clean it? It really is an amazing little thing - everything you need in one little case.
Any information would be appreciated.
